Bentley Motors is sharing its ambition to redefine the electric luxury segment. The EXP 12 Speed 6e combines Bentley levels of craftsmanship and refinement, with powerful electric performance. Bentley have expressed that the all-electric concept will not compromise on the ‘quality, refinement and high performance’ qualities that define their world famous vehicles.

Wolfgang Dürheimer, chairman and chief executive of Bentley Motors, said:

“The EXP 12 Speed 6e is a concept to show that Bentley is defining electric motoring in the luxury sector, with the appropriate technology, high quality materials and refinement levels you’d expect from a true Bentley. This concept enables us to engage with luxury customers and gather feedback on our approach.

“Bentley is committed to offering an electric model in its future portfolio and we are interested to receive feedback on this concept,” Dürheimer concluded.

Bentley’s vision is for the EXP 12 Speed 6e concept to offer it’s drivers the ultimate grand touring experience, with the ability to drive from London to Paris or Milan to Monaco on one single full charge.

Inside the cabin will be vast amounts of cutting edge technology and high-quality luxurious materials. Cut-glass sections on the steering wheel will contain drivers controls for media, communications, navigation and car set-up. A performance boost and speed limiter button will also be within the drivers reach to offer optimum driving experience on all roads. The passenger will have their own control panel with access to social media, email and entertainment.

The EXP 12 Speed 6e’s exterior design is described as ‘muscular’ with ‘athletic surfaces inspired by contemporary architecture, the natural world and the aerodynamic shapes of aircraft fuselages.’ The twin bonnet’s scoops act as effective heat sinks which enable the battery to stay cool therefore offering increased performance.

Bentley have also announced their plans to move into the PHEV sector, starting with a plug-in hybrid variation of the Bentayga in 2018.
