BMW have achieved their best July ever, thanks to sales of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) which are up almost 75th when compared to July last year. This years outstanding performance has seen a total of 1,401,551 vehicles sold worldwide in this year so far.
Dr. Ian Robertson, Management Board Member for Sales and Brand at BMW, explains how BMW achieved this pleasing news; "Following a record first half-year, our sales in July remain at a very high level, with profitability our primary focus. (Despite) continuing headwinds in the USA, as well as the model changeover of the BMW X3 and the BMW 5 Series in China, we are still able to achieve last year's high sales levels, due to our policy of balanced global sales growth. Sales of our electrified vehicles continue to develop extremely well, with all nine of our electrified cars playing their role in this success."
Since the beginning of the year, 50,000 award-winning BMW i, BMW iPerformance and electrified MINIs were delivered worldwide to customers. The BMW Group now has a total of nine electrified vehicles on the market, and the BMW i3 is the worldwide best-selling compact battery-electric vehicle in the Premium Segment since 2014.
To demonstrate their long-standing commitment to sustainable motoring, BMW have also recently announced a new Lower Emissions Allowance Scheme, which allows drivers of diesel vehicles with a Euro 4 or lower emissions rating to trade in their vehicle for a BMW i or BMW iPerformance or other lower emission (<130g) model and receive an additional discount of £2000. BMW's continued commitment to the sustainable motability cause is evident in BMW EfficientDynamics innovations and industry-leading BMW i and iPerformance electric and hybrid vehicles.
