Fluid Level Maintenance

To maintain a well run vehicle which performs at the best possible level at all times it is important to carry out various simple checks.

These checks include:

  • Oil fluid levels
  • Brake fluid levels
  • Washer fluid levels
  • Radiator coolant levels

You should check your car's oil using the dipstick at least once a month to make sure there is enough and it isn't contaminated. Oil reduces the friction in your engine and keeps it running as smoothly as possible.

Brake fluid deteriorates with use and should be changed every two years to prevent corrosion and brake failure. If it is dark in colour, it should be replaced by a mechanic.

A clean windscreen is an important factor of safe driving and road visability. It is a legal requirement that this system works, so a simple check and top up is more important than it sounds. Water alone will not clear grime and will freeze easier in the winter so finding a good additive is imperative.

Check your radiator coolant level only when the engine is cold. The coolant is a mixture of anti-freeze and water in the car's cooling system and helps keep the car's engine at optimum temperature. It also helps to prevent corrosion and rust.

Checking all of these levels regularly will help keep you and your car happy wherever you drive. If you need assistance with any of these checks do not hesitate to contact Harwoods Jaguar and one of our technicians will be happy to help and advise you.
