Coventry, the UK's Original Motor City, sees the opening of the Jaguar Land Rover Classic Works which members of the public will be able to tour from September.
An all-new facility in the British Midlands, Jaguar Land Rover Classic Works is dedicated to offering a range of products and services tailored to incite passion in classic Jaguar and Land Rover owners and enthusiasts. The opening ceremony was held on the 14th June 2017 and Dr. Ralf Speth, Jaguar Land Rover CEO, and John Edwards, Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations Managing Director, were in attendance.
Being the world's largest classic car sales, manufacturing and restoration facility of its kind, the opening of Jaguar Land Rover Classic Works is a significant milestone in the continued development of the Jaguar Land Rover Classic brand. The brand will continue to expand later this year, when a new, similar facility launches in Essen, Germany.
John Edwards commented, "Classic Works is hugely important to Jaguar Land Rover. It's much more than a building - it's the heart, and soul, of Jaguar Land Rover Classic for our clients worldwide. Being able to support owners and enthusiasts of our two great brands with a full suite of services for classic vehicles is a fantastic opportunity."
Catering to enthusiasts of the classic brand, Jaguar Land Rover Classic announced a full range of purchasing opportunities for Legend vehicles. These Legend vehicles are a range of restoration candidates, show cars and daily drivers, which are all expertly selected. Legend vehicles are categorised under two separate brands: Legends Continued and Reborn Legends. The Reborn Legends programme sees Jaguar Land Rover Classic sourcing classic models and restoring them to authentic specifications, whilst the Legends Continued is creating cars that were never finished due to a fire at the Brown Lane Jaguar factory, and currently has nine 'new' examples of hand-built from scratch authentic D-type-derived XKSS.
Jaguar Land Rover Classic Works facility measures 14,000m2, and has dedicated space for its showroom and over 50 workshop bays for servicing and restoring all classic Jaguar and Land Rover models. The showroom is home to a collection of over 500 vehicles, making it a priceless reference for those undertaking restorations. The Jaguar Land Rover Classic Works facility employs over 80 specialist staff and due to Jaguar Land Rover's heavy investment, this number is expected to grow to more than 120 specialists by the end of 2017.
Tim Hannig, Jaguar Land Rover Classic Director, says, "Our people, their knowledge and their skills are the heart of Jaguar Land Rover Classic. There are more than 1.5 million classic Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles in existence worldwide, and we are investing in traditional manufacturing and restoration skills to ensure enthusiasts are able to give cars with a glorious past, a glorious future."
Jaguar Land Rover Classic now offers a restoration, repair and maintenance service to all models that have been out of production for 10 years or more, utilising the expert knowledge of their specialists working on the restoration of Legends vehicles. This service is offered to all models from XK120 to XK8 and Series Land Rovers to Discovery and Freelander models from the 1990s.
Tours of the facility are available from September, costing £49 per person and taking approximately 3 hours. For further information and to reserve a space today, click here.
