All-new High-torque 2.0 TFSI Engine is a Perfect Fit for Audi A5A newly developed Turbo FSI petrol engine available from this week for the Audi A5 provides the sought-after coupe with yet another choice blend of pace and pence-per-mile efficiency. The new 211PS A5 2.0 TFSI can be ordered in either front-wheel-drive or quattro permanent all-wheel-drive forms for £28,760 OTR or £30,285 OTR, and will reach its first UK customers in August. The new high-tech 2.0-litre unit is derived from the already much praised 1.8 TFSI engine introduced recently in A3, A4 and A5 models, but takes its efficiency a step further still through the use of new Audi valvelift technology. By employing sliding cam units mounted on the intake camshaft that allow for more variation in the degree of valve lift, the engine is able to `breathe' even more effectively, switching to a higher cam profile when strong acceleration is required, or a lower profile that requires less fuel and air compression when throttle usage is more relaxed. The new 2.0-litre TFSI unit delivers 211PS from 4,300rpm and a very impressive 350Nm torque maximum from just 1,500rpm - more even than the 3.2-litre V6 FSI unit also powering A5 models. It enables the front-wheel-drive A5 2.0 TFSI with six-speed manual transmission to cover the 0-62mph sprint in 6.9 seconds, reach a top speed of 155mph and return up to 42.8mpg according to the combined cycle test. And despite doing full justice in performance terms to the purposeful styling of the A5, it also shows restraint where emissions are concerned, with an output of 154g/km for the front-wheel-drive version.
Standard specification for front-wheel-drive and quattro all-wheel-drive versions of the new A5 2.0 TFSI includes xenon headlamps with trademark LED strip daytime running lamps, 17-inch seven-spoke alloy wheels, 3-zone electronic climate control, a 10-speaker Concert CD audio system, full Milano leather upholstery and rear acoustic parking.

Lap of Luxury for New Audi A6 2.0 TDI Limited EditionAvailable exclusively in conjunction with the 2.0-litre, 140PS TDI engine, and taking the A6 in SE form as its starting point, the new Limited Edition model features an alloy wheel upgrade from a 17-inch five-spoke star design to a polished 18-inch twelve-spoke, and inside swaps Meridian cloth upholstery for supple Milano leather. As part of a separate enhancement package for all four-cylinder petrol and TDI versions of the A6, DVD satellite navigation, which incorporates an upgrade to a seven-inch high resolution colour monitor for the Multi Media Interface control system and a six-disc CD changer, is also included at no extra cost. If taken at face value, these luxury extras would normally add £3,725 to the total price of an A6 2.0 TDI SE, but the 2.0 TDI Limited Edition carries a premium of just £875, equating to total added value of £2,850. The A6 2.0 TDI Saloon with six-speed manual transmission can accelerate from rest to 62mph in 10.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 130mph, all the while offering the potential to cover up to 46.3 miles per gallon of diesel. In addition to the extras which define the A6 2.0 TDI Limited Edition, standard A6 specification includes electronic climate control, cruise control, light and rain sensors, powered front and rear windows and mirrors, a 10-speaker, 160-watt audio system and a Driver's Information System.
This high specification, combined with attainable pricing and the inherent frugality and correspondingly modest 154g/km CO2 output of the 2.0-litre TDI engine, will make the A6 2.0 TDI Limited Edition a popular choice for both private and corporate customers.

Audi Range Ranked The UK's Most Secure - AgainFor the third successive year Audi has stolen the show in the 2008 British Insurance Car Security Awards, not only scoring three category wins but also taking away the overall Manufacturer of the Year Award for the widest range of cars offering five star security. The Vorsprung durch Technik brand's commitment to anti-theft protection across its range was acknowledged by experts at a ceremony held on June 18th at the Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre in Thatcham, Berkshire. The top BICSA award goes to the manufacturer producing the widest range of models that satisfy stringent criteria laid down by Thatcham, including the achievement of a five star rating for `theft of' security and a rating of at least four stars for `theft from' security. In addition to this all-encompassing award, Audi models were also voted best-in-class in 3 of the specific model categories assessed by the experts. The all-new A4 Saloon and Avant, S8 Saloon and TT Roadster models all outclassed rivals in their considered opinion. Director of Audi UK Jeremy Hicks welcomed the very positive result for Audi: "I am delighted that the huge investment we have channelled into protective measures for all our cars has proved its worth yet again in Thatcham. To be acknowledged as number one for car security for a third consecutive year is an achievement which Audi AG's security team can take considerable pride in," he said. Award-winning security protection is achieved right across the Audi range through features including Thatcham Category 1 alarm and immobiliser technology with interior ultrasonic protection, Thatcham Category 4 locking wheel bolts, anti-tow tilt sensors, visible Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) and extensive marked parts. Audi UK has enjoyed an exceptionally rapid rise to prominence in the premium sector. Since 2000, when just over 43,000 Audi models found homes in the UK, the brand has consistently broken its annual sales records year-on-year, and in 2007 successfully passed the milestone 100,000 sales barrier. It is continuing to perform exceptionally well in a declining market by extending its reach into important new segments with strong offerings such as the A3 Cabriolet, A5, RS 6, Q7 and R8, and by consolidating its presence in its traditional heartland with core models like the all-new A4 and A4 Avant. |

Even Lower Emissions for Latest Audi A4 Petrol and TDI ModelsIn line with its pledge to cut CO2 output from its fleet by 20 per cent by 2012, Audi has just introduced its cleanest A4 TDI model ever, and at the same time launched an all-new 2.0 TFSI engine to complete its efficiency-focused overhaul of the A4 petrol range. Notable as the compact executive car that will attract the lowest company car tax liability in the premium sector, the new 120PS A4 2.0 TDI is available to order now in Saloon and Avant body styles with standard, SE or S line specification priced from £22,150 OTR. The powerful 211PS A4 2.0 TFSI with new performance-enhancing Audi Valvelift technology is offered in SE or S line forms priced from £24,625 OTR. Both will be delivered to their first UK customers in mid-July. The new TDI is based on the latest generation 2.0-litre 143PS unit first seen in the A4 at its launch earlier this year, and shares its advanced common rail piezo fuel injection system. With an output of 120PS, and 290Nm of torque delivered via a six-speed manual transmission from just 1,750rpm, it combines strong performance with the potential to cover in excess of 55mpg, a bi-product of this impressively low fuel usage being a low CO2 figure of 134g/km. This impressive efficiency ensures that drivers of the new A4 2.0 TDI 120PS will enjoy the lowest tax burden in the premium sector, with benefit-in-kind tax liability of £1,582.20 per annum or £131.85 per month for a company car user in the 40 per cent tax bracket. Audi valvelift boosts FSI efficiency Slotting in midway through the petrol range, the new 2.0-litre TFSI engine is an all-new unit based on the 1.8 TFSI that has been available in A4 Saloon models since launch. Like its smaller counterpart it combines turbo charging and FSI direct injection to deliver strong performance as efficiently as possible, but it also supplements this with new Audi valvelift technology that further reduces fuel consumption by at least 5 per cent by controlling valve opening far more precisely than conventional systems. Valve lift is variable between two levels through the use of sliding cam units mounted on the intake camshaft. When strong acceleration is required, an electronic control mechanism selects a cam profile which opens the valve as fully as possible for optimum 'breathing'. When throttle usage is more relaxed, the control mechanism selects a lower profile, reducing the amount of fuel and air compressed. The new 2.0-litre TFSI unit delivers 211PS from 4,300rpm and a very impressive 350Nm torque maximum from just 1,500rpm. At launch it is available in front-wheel-drive and quattro permanent all-wheel-drive forms, both initially transmitting power exclusively via six-speed manual transmission. Towards the end of 2008 the unique-in-class multitronic continuously variable automatic transmission - which in several applications actually brings improvements in fuel economy compared with its manual equivalent - will be available for front-wheel-drive versions. The advantages of Audi valvelift technology are evident in a 6.9-second 0-62mph time and 155mph top speed for the latest A4 2.0 TFSI with six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel-drive. They are even more noticeable in the 42.8mpg combined economy figure and 154g/km CO2 output - a significant improvement over the 36.7mpg and 184g/km recorded by the previous generation A4 2.0 TFSI. |

Audi A4 Earns Five Stars in the Euro NCAP Crash TestAfter testing the new Audi A4 for passive crash safety, the Euro NCAP consortium has awarded the vehicle five stars, the highest rating possible. The results achieved by the new Audi A4 for adult protection in frontal and side crashes as well as child and pedestrian protection make it one of the safest vehicles in its class. The mid-sized model from the brand with the four rings was put to the test for passive vehicle safety by Euro NCAP. The consortium, consisting of international representatives from European ministries of transport, automotive clubs, insurance companies and consumer protection agencies, comprehensively examined the crash performance of new vehicles. The Euro NCAP's demanding test requirements substantially exceed the guidelines stipulated by European lawmakers. The data collected on the A4 for driver and passenger safety in frontal and side crashes earned the vehicle five stars, the best rating possible. The Audi A4 offers good protection for children as well: the test results for child safety are also high, with four stars earned. Founded in 1997, the Euro NCAP consortium conducts crash tests with all of the important vehicles on the European market. It seeks to systematically improve safety in traffic, thus protecting the lives of all road users. Audi regards providing partner protection for pedestrians and cyclists as an important task. A vehicle front end designed specifically to comply with this safety philosophy helps to mitigate consequences in the event of an accident. This development is rewarded with two of four possible stars in the Euro NCAP test. Audi attaches even greater importance to the key issue of active safety in accident prevention. A high-performance, standard ESP brake system with brake assist was therefore one of the main requirements in the development of the new Audi A4, and helps the A4 to achieve excellent results in independent comparative tests. In addition, customers can benefit from a wide range of optional driver assistance systems previously available only in luxury-class automobiles. These include a radar-supported adaptive cruise control system with Audi braking guard that actively warns the driver in several stages of an impending collision, Audi lane assist and Audi side assist. |
