The new generation Audi A3

The Audi A3 and A3 Sportback, the premium compact models from Audi, are raising their profile this summer with a raft of technical and visual improvements.

Innovative technologies in such options as the unique S tronic dual-clutch transmission with seven speeds as well as the Audi magnetic ride suspension control system create a mature handling and ride. Its sharper, more striking exterior design lends even greater expression to the A3 family and there is a new trim line-up for the interior. Additional equipment such as the advanced Audi parking systems also add to the appeal of the latest models. The Audi S3 developing 195 kW (265 hp) now also becomes available as a 5 door Sportback version, a new top model that completes the comprehensive range.
The new generation A3 and A3 Sportback engine range comprises seven different engines - four petrol and three diesel versions. Their abbreviations TFSI and TDI encapsulate the strengths of Audi's engine technology - performance, high torque, dynamism, refinement and efficiency

The enhanced Audi A3, A3 Sportback and the two S3 versions are set to arrive in the UK market this summer.

The New Audi Q5: Sporty and Versatile

The all new Audi Q5 combines the poise of a sports saloon with highly variable interior and versatile options for leisure-time and family use. Strong and efficient engines, quattro permanent all-wheel drive and agile running gear incorporating the innovative seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission and Audi drive select control system have been brought together to create a performance SUV for all seasons and all surfaces.

The dimensions alone indicate that this is a SUV of all-new proportions. Measuring 4.63 metres long and 1.88 metres wide, the Audi Q5 is just 1.65 metres high, giving it a more purposeful stance than any of its competitors. The wheelbase is the longest in its segment, creating a room interior. What's more, this SUV sets another benchmark in its class with a low drag coefficient of 0.33.

With its elegant, flowing lines the design of the Q5 is perfectly in tune with the character of Audi as a brand. The front end is dominated by expressive headlights on both sides of the large single-frame grille; on request, they can be equipped with bi-xenon lamps and LED daytime running lights. Viewed from the side, the large wheels and rising edges are especially prominent features.

Crowned by a rail, the elegant slope of the roof underscores the slim, coupe-like styling. At the rear, the wraparound tailgate - made from aluminum like the bonnet - clearly identifies this SUV as a relative of its older brother, the Audi Q7. The tail lights are available with distinctive LED lighting technology as well.

Audi offers three different options for the external trim of the Q5 - black (standard), contrasting colour or a full body-coloured paint finish. Two body packages are available as well. The S line exterior package imparts a more sporty look to the performance SUV, while the alternative off-road style package with underbody protection in the front and back and 19-inch wheels gives the SUV a more robust character.

The Audi Q5 will slot in below the Audi Q7 in the UK range in late 2008 and will be priced from approximately £30,000.

Audi Servicing - Complimentary MOT Protection

We know how much your Audi means to you, so why not have it assessed at one of our three Audi Centres by the people who know it best? As a valued Audi owner, you can also benefit from Complimentary MOT Protection at no extra cost.

The annual MOT test can make even the most cool-headed person a little nervous. MOTs are a legal requirement in the UK and currently vehicles aged three years or over must be tested every year. Our Audi Trained Technicians are on hand to help make this as simple and painless as possible for you.

If you choose to have your MOT carried out at an Audi Centre - for just £49.99 - as well as maintain your vehicle in line with the manufacturer's service schedule, we will provide Complimentary MOT Protection. This covers you for up to £750 (inc. VAT) against a wide range of repairs, should your Audi fail its MOT.

So, although we can't make the MOT test vanish altogether, we can eliminate some of the worry it may cause.

For more information on having your Audi MOT tested with us, or to learn more about Complimentary MOT Protection, please contact our Audi dealerships at Five Oaks, Portsmouth and Southampton.

Audi Summer Checklist

The best way to ensure that your Audi operates smoothly and at peak performance is to keep up a routine maintenance schedule. In between these Services it's also important to carry out minor inspections that will keep your Audi in top condition in the longer term. Most are simple checks that should be carried out every two weeks. However, there are also seasonal checks that should be done to keep your Audi on the road.

With warmer weather hopefully just around the corner, the checklist below provides general guidance to help you maintain your Audi between regular service intervals. This list is not exhaustive and does not replace the need to follow a regular service schedule. For further advice or to book a service, please contact our Audi dealerships at Five Oaks, Portsmouth and Southampton.

What to check on your Audi

• Tyres
Make sure you know the correct tyre pressures for your car and check them at regular intervals using a good quality gauge or garage air line. Look for cuts on tyre sidewalls and ensure the tread depth is acceptable. Look out for uneven tyre wear. If any one tyre needs regular top-ups, it may have a slow puncture. Don't forget to check the spare as well.

• Engine oil
Check the oil level at least every fortnight and before any long journey by using the dipstick. Ensure that the oil and filter are changed at the recommended Audi Service intervals. High oil consumption may indicate problems with the engine.

• Coolant Level
Check the coolant (fluid) level regularly and top up when required - but only when the engine is cold. Although antifreeze is used in winter to prevent the engine's coolant system from freezing, it also prevents the build-up of corrosion and so is important in the summer, too.

• Wipers
Wiper blades do wear down over time and can smear the windscreen. Clean regularly to remove grease and debris and replace all blades at least once a year.

• Screenwash
This should also be topped up regularly - we recommend that you should only use Audi Genuine Screenwash as this has been tested for use both in the summer months and in winter for your Audi, it will also ensure that your washer system remains trouble free and performs as intended.

• Windscreen
Check the screen for chips and cracks as damage may impair vision or distract attention from the road. If your windscreen becomes damaged between servicing, replace as soon as possible.

• Lights
Check lights weekly, including all indicators, brake and fog lights. Clean them regularly and when the weather is bad, clean them during driving breaks.

• Bodywork
Rust prevention is easier if all damage to bodywork is treated promptly.

• Toolkit
If you have a toolkit in your Audi, check to ensure it contains everything you need to change a wheel. Familiarize yourself with the correct jacking points and if your Audi has locking wheel nuts ensure the key or removal tool is within the toolkit.
