1,321 Bentleys Gather at Salon Privé to set New Record
1,321 modern and heritage Bentley models recently set a new world record for the largest gathering of Bentleys in history.
The world record took place at the Bentley Drivers Club Annual Rally, hosted at the 2019 Salon Privé Concours d’Elégance as part of Bentley’s year-long centenary celebrations. Bentley owners from across the country where in attendance displaying models from across the history of the brand.
The oldest Bentley in the world and second car built by W.O Bentley was there, as well as the EXP 100 GT – Bentley’s latest concept car that looks forward to the future of mobility in 2035. Hundreds of cars representing many different eras of the brand were in attendance, such as the ‘Cricklewood era’ original Grand Tourers from the 1920s and the ‘Derby Bentleys’ of the 1930s. The entire history of Bentley production in crewe were also on display, from the Mark V1 models of 1946 to today’s Continental GT, Flying Spur, Bentayga and Mulsanne models.
“The sight of over a thousand Bentleys gathered in one place was truly extraordinary, and totally unparalleled in our history. I’m grateful to the organisers of Salon Privé for making this year’s event such an outstanding celebration of Bentley, and this gathering to mark our centenary was the ultimate finale. My thanks go to the committee of the Bentley Drivers Club for their hard work and dedication in amassing these cars, and to their members and our customers for making the journey and sharing their cars with us.”
- Adrian Hallmark, Bentley Chairman and Chief Executive
A particular highlight of the weekend was the global debut of the restored 1939 Bentley Corniche. This one of a kind concept cat was destroyed at the outbreak of the Second World War whilst waiting to be shipped home and has been painstakingly rebuilt – initially by a team of enthusiasts and then completed in-house by Mulliner.
