Bentley Motorsport have announced that they have struck a partnership with K-PAX Racing to use three Bentley Continental GT3s as race cars during the Pirelli World Cup in 2018.
This exciting development prompted Brian Gush, Bentley's Director of Motorsport to comment: “I’m delighted to welcome K-PAX Racing to the Bentley Motorsport family. They are a team with an impressive and proven track-record in the Pirelli World Challenge, and we’re looking forward to working with them. The Continental GT3 has had another successful season and we’re confident it will continue to challenge for national and international titles in 2018.”
K-PAX, owned by Jim Haughey, previously has won the Pirelli World Challenge drivers title on four occasions, with the manufacturer owning three titles, showing that K-PAX is not inexperienced when it comes to working with leading manufacturers. Program Manager, Darren Law, chose to form a partnership with the British Bentley organisation after reviewing the market to see what organisations were available to work with.
Commenting on his choice, the aforementioned Darren Law had this to say: “Racing in the Pirelli World Challenge for the last few years has been a great experience and has produced tremendous results...At the end of each season, we evaluate the performance of our team and our program as well as what the future looks like.”
Furthermore, the program-manager additionally stated: “With the introduction of the new Bentley Continental GT3, we see a lot of potential. Currently, we are in the process of finalizing K-PAX’s 2018 driver line-up and will be making an announcement soon. We look forward to joining the Bentley Motorsport family and continuing our success beginning with next season.”
The K-PAX Racing team will use three current Bentley Continental GT3s during the first season. The Continental GT3 recently has not been a disappointment after a previous successful racing season, where the 4-Litre turbo-charge V8 race car won the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup Team award and the British GT Championship awards, further adding to the trophy cabinet, alongside their trophies for two GT Asia Series Teams and the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup Drivers.
Bentley Motorsports recently announced their second-generation Continental GT3, which features various advancements over its predecessor such as an upgraded 4.5-Litre engine and improved aerodynamics. To learn more about this second-generation Continental GT3, click here.
