The New Land Rover Defender Is Revealed
After a long time of built up suspense, the iconic Land Rover Defender has finally been revealed. Making its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the reimagined Defender turned thousands of heads with its bold and classic design – a modern twist on the iconic model.
Following its removal from the production line in 2016, the new Defender launch has been highly anticipated in recent months.
The design of the new Land Rover Defender has been pushed to achieve visually compelling and tough attitude and appearance. The design was determined to reach higher possibilities than the models’ predecessors.
Designed to be the most capable Defender yet, with the choice of the 90 or 110 body, the seating possibilities are endless. Featuring up to six seats in the 90 body style and the option of a third row in the 110. With six models and four accessory packs available, the Land Rover Defender is certain to make the perfect fit to any lifestyle.
The exterior houses the recognisable silhouette, with excellent ground clearance, solid styling and squared off design features, the Defender’s appearance is a hint at its capabilities and unrivalled purpose. The rear of the vehicle boasts the perfect balance of iconic and modern design. Newly invented taillights hint at the sophisticated and current twists of the new model, whilst drawing attention to its power and ability with its full-size mounted spare wheel.
Inside, the touch and capable design is continued throughout. Internal design features hint further at the vehicle’s strength, durability and functionality. Robust materials are used throughout, from adventure ready hard-wearing seat materials to the hard-wearing, durable rubber flooring, the Defender is ready for anything you throw at it.
The new Defender is designed to suit any type of adventure, needs or lifestyles. The accessory packs provide an enhanced element of capability and toughness to suit certain needs.
The Explorer Pack is designed to protect your vehicle off-road, offer additional load capacity and a smoother driving experience for ‘Explorers’. The Explorer Pack is ideal for dusty and sandy conditions due to its raised air intakes. The expedition roof rack offers a lightweight and integrated option for additional load capacity of up to 132kg for the Defender 110 with off-road tyres. This accessory pack also offers a 24-litre exterior side-mounted gear carrier, providing a waterproof and lockable option for easy access to extra items like walking boots or wetsuits. When it comes to the exterior design, the Explorer Pack offers a matte black bonnet enhancement and added protection for the wheel arches when driving off-road. Mud flaps and a spare wheel cover are also included for extra protection of the Defender’s exterior. Additional upgrades are also available for more extreme exploring.
The Adventure Pack boasts exceptional features which make exploring natures playground even more exciting. Inclusive of a 6.5 litre pressurised portable rinse system, the Adventure Pack makes it easier to hose off boots, bikes and wetsuits with the hose and shower attachment. The integrated air compressor is fitted in the load space and also offers the ability to inflate vehicle and bike tyres, as well as airbeds and other inflatable items. This pack also provides easier reach to all your essential items with its versatile 20-litre seat backpack – which can easily be removed when you venture outside. The exterior side-mounted gear carrier also provides additional storage. The bright rear scuff plate ensures the rear bumper is protected against scuffs while loading and unloading the vehicle. What’s more, front and rear mud flaps and a spare wheel cover add extra protect whilst also adding to the exterior appearance. Additional upgrades will also be available at a later date.
The Country Pack prepares your Defender for the elements of the country with front and rear classic mudflaps, portable rinse system, a bright rear scuff plate and additional wheel arch protection. What’s more, the pack includes a full height loadspace partition which prevents items stored in the rear from entering the cabin and causing an obstruction. Additional upgrades will also be available in mid-2020.
The Urban Pack equips the Defender to tackle the concrete jungle with head-turning style and confident design. Consisting of bright metal pedals, a bright rear scuff plate and a spare wheel cover, the Urban Pack adds exceptional exterior enhancements whilst still providing the option to protect the vehicle off-road. Additional exterior upgrades such as a choice of alloy wheels will be available mid-2020.
What’s more, a number of additional packs are available for smaller upgrades to your Defender. Whether you want to add external appearance enhancements such as the black roof rails, driver assistance packs such as, configurable terrain response, towing assistance packs such as, electrically deployable towbar or just upgrade the sound system to the Meridian, there is certain to be a way to make your Defender personal to you.
