Bentley Motors Commits to Carbon Neutral Goal by 2030

Climate Change Strategy

In a recent press release, Bentley Motors Limited outlined their plans for a 'Beyond100 Strategy' that will see their end-to-end manufacturing process become carbon neutral by 2030. All operations at Bentley's Crewe site will be climate positive thereafter, highlighting the company's dedication to going above and beyond.

From Internal Combustion to Electric Cars

At present Bentley Motors is the largest producer of 12-cylinder petrol engines which are available in the New Bentayga, Mulsanne, New Flying Spur and Continental GT range, illustrating the enormity of the company's challenges ahead. Nevertheless, the luxury car manufacturer is confident in its strategy that stretches far and wide within its inner-workings, from improvements to its waste management, to producing vehicles with fewer tailpipe emissions.

Plug-in Hybrid and Fully Electric Cars

To meet this strict emissions target, Bentley will be releasing two new plug-in hybrid cars in 2021 with the entire range to be made up of PHEVs and BEVs (battery electric vehicles) by 2026. This means that we can expect plug-in hybrid variants and even fully electric variants of the New Bentayga and Continental GT in the very near future. With electric cars increasing in popularity, the move towards an all-electric and hybrid range is not surprising for a mainstream manufacturer, but it represents a much bigger move for a luxury car brand such as Bentley.

Sustainably Sourced Future

Further investment will be made into new sustainable materials and craftsmanship with a commitment to use only sustainably sourced materials throughout its current generation and generations to come.

Although this represents a profound change for both Bentley as a manufacturer and the luxury car industry, Adrian Hallmark, CEO of Bentley Motors stated "we're not frightened by it, we're inspired by it."
