Bentley Welcomes Their First Plug-In Hybrid – The Bentayga Hybrid

Bentley has made their first step towards an electric future with the all new Bentley Bentayga Hybrid. The Bentayga plug-in hybrid is now for sale in Europe, becoming the SUV sector’s first true luxury plug-in hybrid.

The pioneering model is the luxury brand’s most efficient model to date, with CO2 emissions of only 79 g/km and an exceptional all electric range of 39 miles on a single 2.5 hour high voltage charge. Customer deliveries in the UK and Europe of the exciting model are set to begin at the end of 2019, with US customers expected to receive deliveries at the start of 2020.

Building on the Bentayga, the plug-in hybrid variation is the ultimate grand tourer thanks to advanced technology and a luxury driving experience.

With a highly efficient and enhanced performance 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 petrol engine, the plug-in hybrid SUV is redefining the luxury SUV sector. The petrol engine has been crafted with the latest technologies to improve efficiency and performance, combined with the state-of-the-art electric motor to offer a smooth and efficient ride, without compromise on power. The vehicle can power from 0-60mph in a thrilling 5.2 seconds, whilst delivering 700 Nm of combined torque and reaching a remarkable 158 mph top speed.

Offering three hybrid drive modes, the Bentayga Hybrid is also able to provide enhanced efficiency. EV mode allows the vehicle to use only energy supplied by the battery to the wheels via the electric motor, whereas hybrid mode provides information to calculate the optimum combination of electric motor and engine, in order to effectively use the hybrid power on a specified route which has been input into the navigation. This intelligent software is unique to the Bentley Bentayga Hybrid, using the Satellite Navigation system, which displays the maximum remaining range in EV mode according to the vehicles position. The third mode allows the driver to reserve power for later use, such as when arriving in a city. Furthermore, all modes recover energy to the battery through regeneration during deceleration.

Each model will be handcrafted in Crewe and requires 130 hours to build. The design showcases elegant and timeless finishes, partnered with an athletic stance and sleek exterior. The luxury plug-in hybrid SUV offers a stylish and driver focused cabin, with a range of personalisation options available, as well as intelligent Satellite Navigation.

Bentley aims to release an electrified variant of each model across their range by 2023 and the Bentayga Hybrid is the brand’s first step in this direction.
