The New Defender 90 and 110 Hard Top models will be joining the Land Rover range.
Added: 03 July 2020
It has been confirmed that the New Defender 90 and 110 will be joining the Land Rover range later this year, bringing the legendary Hard Top name back to the line-up.
Land Rover received unprecedented demand for the New Defender 90 and 110 since their premiere last September and the new Hard Top models are the next exciting addition to the family.
The Hard Top Defender models will be versatile and durable, combining outstanding capability with the most up-to-date technology. Impressive cargo space, practicality and comfort are guaranteed over any terrain. The models will offer towing capacity of 3,500kg with optional Advanced Tow Assist technology, as well as a maximum wading depth of 900mm.
The original Hard Top name dates back to the 1950s, however these new models will ensure that the iconic fixed metal roof and instantly recognisable silhouette remain. Developed by Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations, the new Defenders will feature an aluminium-intensive D7x body architecture, which is three times stiffer than the best body-on-frame designs.
“We will maximise the functionality and usability of New Defender’s cargo area, with tough materials and clever storage solutions to ensure it surpasses the capability of any previous Defender Hard Top”
- Michae van der Sande, Managing Director, Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations
Full technical details will be confirmed later this year, however the 90 and 110 Hard Top will both feature independent coil-sprung suspension, with advanced electronic air suspension also available on the 110.
Inside both models, ultimate flexibility awaits. There are no second or third-row seats, but there will be an optional front-row jump seat so that it will still accommodate three people. Even when the jumpseat is occupied or the load space is full, the ClearSight Rear View mirror system ensures full rear visibility – using a rear-facing camera to provide an unobstructed view at all times.
Land Rover’s state-of-the-art Pivi Pro touchscreen infotainment will also feature, including seamless smartphone integration using Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Convenience will be enhanced further with the Remote smartphone app, allowing businesses to keep track of vehicle location, fuel level and journey history.
“New Defender 90 and 110 Hard Top will be the toughest, most capable and most connected commercial 4x4s we have ever produced. They have been engineered to meet global safety standards and deliver impressive long-haul comfort, giving businesses and professionals the best of all worlds.”
- Nick Collins, Land Rover Vehicle Line Director
Pricing is expected to start at £35.500 plus VAT, with final specification and pricing to be confirmed in the autumn.
