News FUTURE AUDIS TO BE CONTROLLED BY APPLE TV
Audi’s ambitious connectivity plans for the future will offer buyers of its 2017 A4 and Q7 the chance to control the model using their Apple TV. This doesn’t mean that the cars could be driven using the tech giant’s TV set, but it will be possible to access and operate functions from the comfort of home.

The system will tailor Audi’s MMI connect app for the fourth-generation Apple TV so owners can remotely set the cabin temperature, lock and unlock the doors, and view the vehicle’s status.
The development is a good indication of the direction the German firm plans to take its vehicles, which are already among the most advanced in the industry. Audi owners can currently access their favourite smartphone apps in the car by linking it to the on-board MMI connect system. The new Apple TV offering takes this a step further by linking vehicles with the smartphone and the home for a totally connected ownership experience.
The new tech was unveiled at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas where Audi also hosted a press conference to talk about its connected cars of the future. Tomorrow’s models will be able to “talk” to the world around them via the internet, building on recent innovations such as traffic sign recognition.
Now is an exciting time to be an Audi owner, and you can explore the manufacturer’s latest luxury range at Harwood Audi. Contact our team in Portsmouth, Southampton or Horsham to arrange a test drive.
