News Jaguar E-Type Zero Confirmed
Jaguar have confirmed the E-Type Zero will be in production by 2020.
Added: 27 September 2018
After the hugely successful world debut of its concept in September 2017, Jaguar has confirmed that the E-Type Zero will soon be going into production.
Jaguar Classic will be combining cutting-edge technology with their restoration expertise to offer tailor-made E-Types, restored and converted to electric power. An EV conversion service for existing E-Type owners will also be offered, which will be fully reversible to preserve the vehicle’s authenticity.
The E-Type Zero was first shown during the Jaguar Land Rover Tech Fest at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London and more recently in August 2018 at The Quail, Monterey Car Week.
The model will be engineered by Jaguar Land Rover Classic at their Classic Works facility in Warwickshire and is based on the 1968 Series 1.5 Jaguar E-Type Roadster. It will feature a cutting edge electric powertrain, meaning it will be able to speed from 0 – 62 mph in just 5.5 seconds.
The E-Type will also boast an electric powertrain producing 220kW, with a lithium-ion battery pack that has the same dimensions and a similar weight as the XK six-cylinder engine used in the original E-Type. Technology and components will also be borrowed from All-New Electric I-PACE, Jaguar Land Rover’s first production all-electric vehicle.
Thanks to its light weight and exceptional aerodynamics, the E-Type Zero has a real world range of 270k (170 miles). Its 40kWh battery can be recharged from home overnight, typically taking six to seven hours.
First customer deliveries are currently scheduled to start from summer 2020. Contact your local Harwoods Jaguar dealership today to find out more.
