New Land Rover Defender Will Be Revealed In 2019 And On Sale In 2020

Just after Christmas, Land Rover gave us something to celebrate in the New Year, by announcing that the New Defender will be revealed in 2019, with customer deliveries starting in 2020. Currently, the new Defender is undergoing world-wide extreme capabilities testing and reached North American shores in early December 2018.

Given the wide range of terrain and surfaces available in the U.S.A, the tests that the new Defender will undergo there will provide Land Rover engineers with valuable data. With the aim of proving that the new Defender is the most off-road capable Land Rover vehicle ever made, engineers will subject the vehicle to rigorous and extreme tests. Temperatures will range from -40F to +120F during the tests which will see the Defender travel on and off-road and up to 13,000 metres above sea level.

Rawdon Glover, UK Managing Director at Jaguar Land Rover, has commented: "We are enormously excited to be revealing the first member of the Defender family during 2019 with UK customers taking deliveries in 2020. The Defender nameplate stands for durability and alongside Range Rover delivering ultimate luxury and Discovery offering the best versatility in the market, we will have an SUV for every customer requirement."

The Defender's unmistakable shape is still respected within the all-new exterior and interior design and the new model is set to be a revolutionary product, appealing to a broad range of Land Rover customers. Once the vehicle has debuted this year, the new Defender will be honouring the model's heritage for rugged, unwavering durability and representing 70 years of improvement and innovation, whilst remaining a Defender made for the 21st century.
